Hand cut paper and acrylic
Hammond Harkins Gallery
Laura Alexander’s work is driven by wonder. She plays off the intrinsic qualities of materials creating a vocabulary that is her own. She builds layers of paper to manipulate light and shadows. The shadows themselves are as much part of the piece as the art that casts them. Like a scientist, she studies the materials, pushing and pulling their limitations.
Laura received a MFA in Fibers from the University of Washington, Seattle and a BFA from the Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore. She has shown her work nationally. She is represented by Hammond Harkins Galleries (Columbus) and Simon Breitbard Gallery (San Francisco).
