Kendric Tonn earned his B.A. in English at Sewanee: The University of the South followed by a year living in Japan. While teaching in Japan, Kendric continued to travel and drawing became more of a focus. He decided to seek more formal training and later studied at the Savannah College of Art and Design in Savannah Georgia and the Florence Academy of Art, in Florence, Italy. He earned his B.F.A. in 2010.
“My work is informed by my travels, studies of literature and the classical world,” says Kendric. “In my Ohio studio, I create paintings and drawings made with the highest level of craft in order to express enduring human concerns, themes, and stories.”
Kendric’s piece “Male Nude” will be featured in Art for Life on September 15. See more of his work at www.kendrictonn.com/.
