Jessica Wojtasek is urban landscape painter whose subject matter is Columbus. Jessica received her BFA from the Columbus College of Art and Design in 2008, spending a semester abroad in Florence, Italy. She is currently represented by Studios on High Gallery in the Short North.
“I am fascinated by the way a painting can dramatically alter the way we see our surroundings. How everyday things can gain beauty simply because we’ve experienced them through someone else’s eyes.
My process starts by exploring the city, gathering inspiration and reference photos. From those photographs I try to capture the mood and atmosphere, using an expressive color palette and dramatic composition. My most recent works focus on capturing light, reflection and temperature, specifically in neighborhoods around Columbus.”
Jessica’s piece “4th. St. Nocturne” will be featured in Art for Life on September 15. See more of her work at jesswo.com.
