Jane Dippold was born in 1964 in Coldwater, Ohio where she currently lives, and received a BFA in 1986 from Miami University in Ohio. At the start of her career, she created art at a greeting card company in Cincinnati, and for over twenty years, has been a freelance children’s book illustrator and designer.
Her collage artwork has been selected for the Ohio Arts League- Ohio Made Juried Show and for two consecutive years for the Healing Arts Exhibit at McCullough Hyde Hospital in Oxford, Ohio. She has won Best of Show and the Ohio Themed Award at the St. Mary’s Artfest, and her work was also selected this year, as well as last year, for “The View” Juried Landscape exhibit at Rosewood Gallery in Kettering, Ohio.
In addition to numerous group exhibits, Jane has had solo exhibitions of her artwork at the MacDowell Gallery at Reid Hospital in Richmond, In., and at Yellow Springs Brewery in Yellow Springs, Ohio. She is a member of the Dayton Visual Arts Center (DVAC) and exhibits in both the Member Show, the Holiday ARTtoBUY Juried Gallery and one of her collages was featured in the live auction at the annual DVAC art auction this year
She was recently commissioned to create a large collage commemorating Coldwater Memorial Park in her hometown for the Coldwater Village Hall. Her artwork is in many private collections.
Jane works in torn and cut, hand painted paper on canvas. She loves the energy of randomly painting paper, tearing and cutting the paper and then putting it all back together again into something beautiful, recreating a specific time of day, location or mood. Living in a rural area, Jane’s collage artwork is inspired by the graphic beauty of western Ohio- low, flat fields and woods, punctuated by the silhouettes of the barns, silos and telephone lines of human life.
